The project was funded within the funding initiative “Originalitätsverdacht?” (English: “Original – isn’t it?”). As described by the VW Foundation, it is a high-risk, high-benefit grant format that encourages humanists to collaborate with scholars and scientists from other disciplines in order to identify and explore unusual approaches to the big questions of their fields.
